The Akira collection began with the exploration of paper origami, the angular folds and layers and their effect on light. From there UltraLights developed the designs for fabrication and perfected them for final application and installation. When naming the collection, they chose to pay homage to Akira Yoshizawa — the father of modern origami. It was from paper that the Akira collection was brought to life, and it is through illumination that it will live on.
